A sleepy Sunday afternoon

Vilnius - Šiauliai, Lithuania
A cold overcast morning saw us at Vilnius Train Station waiting for our train to the north of Lithuania. With locals heading to church clutching their birch branches we were heading to Šiauliai. Some 90 miles from Riga, Latvia the fourth largest city in Lithuania is lacking many tourist attractions but does boast the Hill of Crosses and proves a useful stop en route to Riga.

Miss Trey!
Throughout our train ride we see a preponderance of Storks. In Lithuania it is considered good luck to have a Stork nest near to your house. Their nesting is encouraged with the placement of platforms on top of high poles.

After a short two hour train ride we arrive in a quiet city, relaxing in the warm Sunday afternoon sunshine. With just about everything shut in the city we relaxed with a local beer and planned our schedule for the following day.
